What TPS means

TPS means taps per second. It measures how many successful taps you can make every second. If you tap 65 times in 10 seconds, your TPS is 6.5.

TPS is the number to remember because it lets you compare tests of different lengths. A 5-second burst will almost always show a higher TPS than a 30-second run, because fatigue and rhythm start to matter as the timer runs on. That is why this page shows both your average TPS for the whole test and your best one-second burst.

Which duration should I pick?

  • 5 seconds is a pure burst test. Expect your highest TPS here.
  • 10 seconds balances speed and control, and is the most common format online.
  • 30 seconds is the TAPP Classic format, where endurance decides the score.

Questions

What is a good TPS?

Around 6 to 7 taps per second is typical for a single finger. Anything above 8 TPS sustained over 10 seconds is fast, and double figures are rare without special techniques.

Is TPS the same as CPS?

They measure the same thing with different inputs. TPS is taps per second on a touchscreen; CPS is clicks per second with a mouse. TAPP shows whichever matches your device.

Why is my 30-second TPS lower than my 5-second TPS?

Short bursts don't tire your finger. Over 30 seconds your rhythm drifts and fatigue sets in, so the average drops. Consistency is what separates the top scores.
