Reaction Time Test
When the screen turns green, tap. Five rounds. Your average and best reaction time in milliseconds.
Wait for the screen to turn green and say TAP. Then tap as fast as you can. Five rounds.

Dodge adds movement and accuracy to pure reaction: targets appear, you hit them, and one miss ends the streak. Try the browser reflex test first, then go for a verified streak in the app.
What reaction time is
Reaction time is the delay between a stimulus appearing and your response to it. In this test the stimulus is the screen turning green with the word TAP; the timer runs from that frame until your tap, click or key press lands. Because the delay before each signal is random, you can't anticipate it, and the number you get is a real measure of how quickly your eyes, brain and hand complete one loop.
It is not a tapping speed test. Tap speed is measured in taps per second and rewards rhythm and endurance. Reaction time is measured in milliseconds and rewards attention and a fast, clean response. TAPP keeps them separate.
Why we average five rounds
Any single reaction is noisy. Attention drifts, screens refresh at different rates, and a lucky guess can produce an impossible number. Five rounds with a random wait give a stable average, and the best round shows your ceiling. Tapping before the signal restarts that round rather than counting.
Questions
What is a good reaction time?
Research on simple visual reaction time commonly reports values around 200 to 250 ms for adults. Under 200 ms is quick; consistently under 180 ms on a phone or laptop is rare.
Does my device affect the result?
Yes. Touchscreens, mice and displays all add small delays, and a 60 Hz screen can add up to 16 ms compared with a faster one. Compare your results on the same device over time rather than against someone else's setup.
What's the difference between reaction time and reflexes?
Reaction time is a conscious response to a stimulus and takes around a quarter of a second. Reflexes are involuntary and much faster. In gaming the two words get mixed, which is why our reflex test is really a reaction-and-accuracy game.
