What is TAPP?
TAPP is a free reaction and tapping-speed mobile game where players test their reflexes in short Classic and Dodge challenges, compete on global and country leaderboards, and try to beat their personal best.
How TAPP works
TAPP is built around short, repeatable challenges with a single number at the end. You play a round, you get a score, and that score is ranked against everyone else who played in the same window. There are two modes, each with its own leaderboard.
Classic mode
Classic is a 30-second tapping challenge. The clock starts on your first tap and your score is the total number of taps before it ends. The game counts at most one tap every 50 milliseconds, which caps the theoretical maximum at 20 taps per second. TAPP's illustrative bands put a typical 30-second score around 200 taps; the top of the board is played with two alternating thumbs.
You can practise the exact format in the browser with the 30 second tap test, or read about tapping speed and taps per second.
Dodge mode
Dodge is a reaction and accuracy challenge. A target appears; you hit it; it moves somewhere else. The window to hit each target starts at 1.5 seconds and shrinks by 3% with every hit, down to a floor of 0.42 seconds. Tapping outside the target, or not tapping in time, ends the run. Your score is the streak of consecutive hits. In the app the target sequence comes from a server seed so every streak can be verified.
The browser reflex test uses the same rules. The reaction time hub explains the skill behind it.
Global leaderboards
Every verified score goes on a board. Classic and Dodge are ranked separately, highest score first. Each mode has a global board and a board for every country, and each of those has three windows:
- Daily: resets every day at 00:00 UTC.
- Weekly: resets every Monday at 00:00 UTC.
- All-time: never resets.
The live leaderboard on this site shows the same boards as the app, refreshed every minute.
How scores are handled
The app never submits a score. It sends what you actually did during the run, and the server works out what it was worth before anything reaches a board. That is why a score in TAPP is called verified. There is no signup, email or password to play.
Browser tests on this website use the same timing but cannot be verified, so they are practice. Your practice best is stored on your device and shown beside the board so you know the gap; it is never ranked.
What TAPP is for
TAPP sits between casual competitive mobile gaming and the simple reaction and tapping tests people use to see how fast they are. It gives you a repeatable, scored way to measure and practise tapping speed and fast, accurate responses to a visual target, and a global ladder to climb.
It is designed as entertainment and a skill challenge. TAPP is not a medical, diagnostic or brain-training product, and it does not claim to improve reaction time, coordination, cognition or health. Where this site discusses the science of reaction time and tapping speed, it cites published research and labels TAPP's own benchmark figures as illustrative until live data replaces them.
